A man has been charged with the murder of 65-year-old June Fox-Roberts.
Luke Deely, 25, from Pontypridd, is set to appear before Merthyr Magistrates’ Court on Friday (November 26).
Ms Fox-Roberts was found dead at her home in Llantwit Fardre on Sunday (November 21). Officers were called to the home in St Anne’s Drive after being contacted by a concerned family member.
Police said there were no known links between the murder suspect and Ms Fox-Roberts.
Announcing the charges, Senior Investigating Officer Detective Superintendent Darren George said: "I would again like to offer my personal thanks to the local community for their support during the investigation, the charging of a 25-year-old local man is quite clearly a significant development in the investigation and I hope this goes some way in offering reassurance to the local community.
"I can also confirm that there are currently no known links between June and the person charged.
"I once again urge people not to speculate on social media, my thoughts remain with June and her family who we continue to support through specially trained officers."
Ms Fox-Roberts' family released a statement earlier this week in which they expressed "utter shock" at her death.
"Her murder will never make sense to us," they said. "She was a kind-hearted, generous woman who was never happier than when with family and friends around her.
“She loved her family dearly and we will never be the same. We are heartbroken. Please respect our privacy and allow us to grieve and come to terms with what has happened.”
